Hanover Community Church
HCC strives to serve God through serving others.

Our Story
Hanover Community Church (HCC) is a nondenominational Bible Church. HCC was established in 1953 on the prairie. HCC began as a small church built by the founding members. The youth fundraised and worked as the building went up. HCC then began the journey to worship and spreading the word of God throughout our little community. God has blessed our church in many ways over the years, with many wonderful pastors and people along the way. We are proud to see the ripple effect in our community. Many members in our church remember attending as children. An example of such is our beloved Esther, who sat in the sanctuary as a child, the daughter of one of our preachers. Years later she and her husband attend and are very active in our church and community. Pastor Harvell, Josh, became a Christian at a Five-Day Club (Good News Club) that our Kings Kid’s leader, Patty was teaching back in 1996. HCC has had an ‘ebb and flow’ in size over the years, but God has always had a plan and watched over our little church. From finding a pastor the day that the doors were to be nailed shut back in the 1990’s to saving another of our preachers from a lethal heart valve failure to giving interim pastors and even financial means throughout the years. All these things have been miraculous, and we give all glory to God for them. In 2016 many years after opening our doors, with the congregation beginning to diminish, a member, Charles, had an inspiration he truly believed was from God. He felt that God wanted the church to build onto the existing structure. The church met many times to confer and pray about this proposal. The consensus was that God was leading us to break ground again. In 2017 HCC held a ‘Barn Raising Banquet to raise funds for the build. At the time, just a quiet member of our congregation, Josh Harvell, was asked by a board member what his opinion was in the matter of the church build. Josh replied with arms wide open: “If we build, more will come. We are to walk through doors as God opens them.” Josh was not planning on becoming our pastor at that time. He hadn’t even thought about it, but God opened that door and Josh had to step though. God called Josh to become a preacher throughout the next few years. Starting in 2019 with our Friday Night Raise Praise services, then as a fill in for HCC as needed. Though the years 2019-2021 were harsh on attendance and called for small groups as well as online services, HCC committed to serving God and staying open with the goal to be a light on the hill in the dark times. Josh and many members of our church were pivotal in making this goal come to fruition. Josh heard God’s call loud and clear in 2021 and began tutelage to move from ‘Teacher’, as he called himself, to ‘Preacher’. Josh answered the Great Commission and was ordained on May 22, 2022. He became the interim pastor at that time. He was asked by HCC to become/stay our pastor in 2023. As we have been blessed with growth in our church again Pastor Harvell guides our congregation based on Biblical truth and loves his ranch life out here on the prairie. Currently HCC still has arms wide open and strives to serve God through serving others.
